Absolutely! Speech therapy is much more than talking. The role of a speech therapist is diverse; we work on many aspects of communication, as well as feeding and swallowing. Communication includes articulation, fluency, language, social skills, cognition, literacy and hearing.
In adults, the more common impediments are swallowing/feeding issues, stuttering and loss of language and speech due to brain injury.
